### Breaking down the costs 

The cost of a food truck varies depending on several factors such as the size of the truck, the menu, the duration of the event, the number of expected attendees and the desired location.

### Size of the food truck 

First, let's take a look at the size of your chosen food truck. As a general rule, a larger truck is designed to cater to a larger number of guests, and  will require more staffing, fuel and other associated costs. This means that you can expect to pay more compared to a smaller truck that is designed for smaller functions, weddings or private parties for example. In summary, a larger food truck means more kitchen space, more equipment, and more staff to manage the event, meaning the cost is usually higher.

### Your desired menu

Your chosen menu and associated menu items will impact the cost of your food truck rental. If you choose a menu that requires more ingredients or more expensive ingredients, you can expect to see this reflected in your end cost. A menu with simple dishes will be cheaper compared to a menu with gourmet dishes, the same is true for a menu with 2 items when compared to a menu with 10 items. For example, a food truck serving lobster rolls or venison burgers, will have a higher cost per head/total cost compared to a crepe van. Additionally, if you want the truck to serve alcohol, you will have to pay an additional fee to get a liquor licence.

### Event duration

The duration of the event is also an important factor to consider when determining the cost of a food truck rental. If you need the truck for a full day, you will pay more than if you only need the truck for a few hours. The longer the truck is at your event, the more it will cost. This is because staff will require payment determined by hour, longer events serve more food, and often serve a more varied range of food; as well as being potentially equipped for multiple servings or different courses.

### The location

And last but certainly not least is your event location. Where your event is situated will ultimately impact the cost of your food truck rental. If the event is in a remote area or a location that requires more travel, the cost will be higher compared to an event in an easy to access location. An ice cream van for a corporate function may be required to serve a larger number of attendees in a given day or timeframe, resulting in higher staff numbers required. By contrast, if you’re looking to book for a wedding for example, there is likely to be fewer guests and a more relaxed pace, meaning you may only need one or two people to man the van.

When it comes to the time of year, naturally summer time, especially the very height of summer in July and August, ice cream van hire is usually more expensive due to the incredibly high demand!
