8 street foods that say I love you

Literally.

Because if you can’t say it today, when can you? If you’re looking for the perfect street food supplier to take centre stage at your upcoming nuptials, to celebrate the birthday of your soulmate or even just to say a big I love you to your number one (spoiler: that’s you) - we’ve hand-selected the perfect menu of street food virtuosos to make your Valentine’s Day a rather spiritual, sensuous experience.

I: Island Poke

If you’re alone tonight, you can still get some Poke. Island Poke bring to you their delicious, fresh poke (pronouced poké) - a classic Hawaiian dish of cubed, marinated fish. Healthy and fresh to death, the ‘Poké Bowl’ is a twist on the classic dish which combines a base of rice or slaw with colourful toppings such as seaweed, fruit salsas, pickles and garnishes.

You can’t do better than the ‘Classic Ahi’ IMHO, a poke bowl with sushi rice (you can have it with brown rice or leafy greens for an even healthier option), Ahi tuna with Shoyu dressing, pineapple chilli salsa, topped with spring onions, sesame seeds and crispy shallots - you could wife someone with this on a first date, no questions asked.

The LAID team can certainly add some egg-citement to you Valentine’s day; their sausage, egg and cheese bun is mouthwateringly good and is made with Cumberland pork sausage served with cheddar cheese, caramelised onions, rocket and an over easy free range egg in a brioche bun with sriracha mayonnaise. O: Oyster Boy

Have you ever seen the look of love quite so perfectly captured as on this lady’s delighted face as she gladly receives her oyster? Now THAT is love. Oyster Boy knows what’s going on - he’s the King of the aphrodisiacs after all. Casanova himself - the 18th century answer to the modern day David Gandy - used to breakfast on 50 oysters a day. Take note people, Tinder can get in the bin, it’s oysters you need.

The Oyster Boy loves to meet new people and create experiences. If you want to learn about oysters and add a touch of decadence to your private event, look no further and book your very own Oyster Boy… Starting as a trader at Columbia Road Flower Market 5 years ago, Oyster Boy Events had one simple goal which was to serve the best Oysters and Bloody Marys that the UK had to offer. Everyone went mad for them so they expanded by opening stalls in Broadway and Portobello Market - the dream. In 2014, they took a step up into the world of high-end restaurant service with a residency at Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, where the Oyster Boy serves an ever-changing platter of the finest oysters from around the world.

This 'mixto' concept, created by the incredible Eduardo and Dani, knew they wanted to shake up the way the UK thinks about Spanish food. In a move away from the tapas bars which line the streets of the Britain, these guys wanted to find a new way of serving up hispanic food whilst staying true to traditional Spanish ingredients and recipes.

EDū offers an array of tapas type dishes such their mouthwateringly good smoked manchego & serrano ham croquetas and their classic tempura Padron peppers, to name a few. They also can provide main dishes such as the "Spanglish burger" or our favourite - their knockout Octopus bao bun.
